MCMANUS LAW, PLLC, was formed in 2003 as the culmination of a decade-long desire of its founder, John McManus, to operate a full-service litigation firm. Attorney McManus has practiced law in Michigan for 15 years and in Ohio for six years. He has represented major corporations, such as The May Department Stores Company, the owner and operator of Lord & Taylor and Marshall Fields, as well as Yum Brands, the parent corporation of KFC and TACO BELL.

John has also represented individuals and companies in the areas of personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, liquor liability, contract and employment disputes, and other areas of law.

After having defended his clients in many interesting trials in local and federal courts, he decided to pursue the additional practice of criminal law after his involvement in a local death case that garnered national news attention. In that case, a corporate client's employee was alleged to have committed a criminal act while responding to a violent attack. The employee integrity and unfortunate predicament so impressed John that he chose to offer his assistance to others in need of high-quality legal representation in the criminal arena.

Since making the decision to diversify, Attorney McManus has successfully defended individuals and companies in state and federal criminal prosecution, including a concurrent, interrelated Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice prosecution for alleged violations of the recently enacted anti-spamming laws. The firm takes pride in addressing the current legal needs of business owners and employees in Michigan and Ohio.
